Rudbeckia fulgida- a queen of August

Writer: Luba PenmanLuba Penman

Beautiful North American herbaceous perennials are at its glory in August. Bright yellow daisy-like flower-heads with yellow rays surrounding a prominent conical disk. A holder of the Royal Horticultural Society's prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM). The plant is perfect for the naturalistic prairie-style planting schemes. It produces masses of orange-yellow daisy-like flowers from late summer to mid-autumn. Bee friendly. They grow well in sun or partial shade and flower for a long period. They tolerate drought and not really fussy about soil type.

Plant combinations:

Salvia farinacea

Salvia "Mystic Spires Blue"

Verbena bonarensis
